On January 17th the Commandery of the West was invited to participate in the ordination ceremonies of Father Tim Freyer, SChLJ, as he was elevated to Bishop. The West hosted our Grand Prior, Ken Moritsugu, our Chancellor, Hugh Straub, and gathered together thirteen members of the West. We had seventeen members there, if you count Father Marcos and Bishop Freyer, both of whom were busy on the altar. Dressed in our mantles, we processed into the church with the clergy, along with The Order of Malta, The Order of the Holy Sepulchre, and The Order of St. Gregory. The ceremony, as you might imagine, was long and breathtaking in the beauty of its traditions. The West presented the new Bishop with a special mitre. With any luck, he will wear it when he attends our Grand Prioral Council in Pasadena, this coming September.
