Independence Day Message from the Grand Prior

Posted on July 4, 2022 in Charitable Work by The Grand Priory of America

Dear Friends,

As we celebrate July 4th and our independence, we must never forget the sacrifices our forefathers made to ensure our freedom and liberty. It’s been a “short” 246 years since the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776, and during these years America has fought many wars and continued to endure countless sacrifices, both in our own country and around the world, to maintain these freedoms and liberties.

The United States remains the greatest democracy in the world and serves as a model for others to emulate, and while we as a country may not be perfect, we nonetheless strive to ensure life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all.

On this Independence Day for America, we should also remember those in Ukraine, along with all others around the world who are fighting to keep their own independence, just as we did in 1776. While millions of Ukrainian people have fled their country and countless thousands have been killed and injured, the Ukrainian spirit of independence reminds the world of how important it is to be free. We in the Grand Priory of America and the Order of St. Lazarus should be proud of our continuing and strong support for these brave people, and I thank you for all that you have done to help the brave people of Ukraine.

The Order has produced an excellent video demonstrating our support for the Ukrainian crisis, and the link is below. On this Independence Day please take a moment to view this link, and keep the Ukrainian people in your thoughts and prayers as they continue their own fight for independence.
