March 15, 2022 to March 24, 2022
Dear Confreres and Consoeurs of the Order of St Lazarus,
Israel COVID travel restrictions are beginning to loosen:
· As of November 21, 2021, vaccinated tourists in groups of 5-30 will be allowed to enter from all countries of the world.
· Tourists having their second or booster jab beyond six months, will be able to enter Israel in groups of 5-30 from November 21, 2021 (the requirement to have the vaccination, second jab or a booster, within six months of entering Israel will be relaxed).
· A negative PCR test within 72 hours of entering Israel will still be required.
· Unvaccinated tourists will still not be allowed to enter Israel.
Because travel restrictions are loosening-up, we are going forward with planning the St. Lazarus Holy Land Pilgrimage, March 15 – 24, 2022. Unfortunately, adding the back-end Rome option to this Pilgrimage would add a travel complication that we will not be able to do, so this Pilgrimage will be only to the Holy Land.
Pilgrimage details are attached. At this point, George’s is requesting that we not send in the $300 deposit for the trip. Instead, please reply to me (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are “game to go”. We need a minimum of 20 attendees to make the Pilgrimage happen. We will be promoting the Pilgrimage at the GPC in New Orleans in early December, and if we have a total of 20-30 seriously interested in making this Pilgrimage, we will then ask those going to complete the registration form and send it with your deposit by December 15, 2021. The balance will be due January 10, 2022.
The itinerary and cost of the trip is the land portion only. Each person planning to go on the Pilgrimage will need to make their own flight arrangements to/from Tel Aviv, and George’s can assist with your air travel. Because refunds from the airlines is like pulling teeth, George’s recommends that those planning to go wait until we know for sure that we have the 20-30 needed to make the trip a success before making flight arrangements (around December 15th). AT THIS POINT, PLEASE JUST LET ME KNOW IF YOU, ANY IN YOUR FAMILY AND ANY GUESTS WILL PLAN TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PILGRIMAGE.
